LNB Round 6: Caneros lose to Marineros

The most important game in the last round took place in Puerto Plata between third ranked Caneros (7-5) and seventh ranked Marineros (3-8) on Friday night. Caneros were defeated by Marineros in a tough game on the road 75-84. It was a good game for naturalized American point guard Manny Quezada (188-1985, college: USF) who led his team to a victory with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Naturalized American Luis Jacobo (196-1991, college: PFW) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Tyree Crump (185-1997, college: Georgia, agency: Interperformances) replied with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists for Caneros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Marineros have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain seventh position with 3-8 record. Caneros lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Soles and Indios. Marineros are looking forward to face higher ranked Soles (#4) in Santo Domingo in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Caneros will play on the road against the league's second-placed Leones where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
An interesting game for Reales (8-2) which played road game in La Romana against 3rd ranked Caneros (7-5). First ranked Reales managed to get a 8-point victory 95-87. American forward Raphiael Putney (207-1990, college: UMass) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Gelvis Solano chipped in 18 points and 7 assists during the contest. The best for the losing side was Brayan Martinez (203-1991) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 13 rebounds. Caneros' coach Miguel Volcan rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Reales maintains first position with 8-2 record. Caneros lost third consecutive game. They keep the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Soles and Indios. Reales will play against Indios (#3) in San Francisco in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Caneros will play on the road against the league's second-placed Leones in Santo Domingo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
LNB top team - Reales (8-2) added another victory to their record on Friday. This time they beat eighth ranked Metros (1-11) in La Vega 102-96. Raphiael Putney notched a double-double by scoring 26 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort. Even 20 points and 9 rebounds by Emmitt Williams did not help to save the game for Metros. Metros' coach Nestor Diaz tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Reales maintains first position with 8-2 record. Metros lost tenth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 11 games lost. Reales will meet at home Indios (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Metros will play against the league's second-placed Leones (#2) in Santo Domingo and hope to win that game.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 6: Marineros beat Metros on the road 109-102. Leones won against Titanes on its own court 96-82. Soles managed to outperform Indios in Santo Domingo 109-105.
